Call for Volunteers

Applications to volunteer for ICEM 2022 are now open!

ICEM 2022 will be showcasing, over six days, interactive workshops and presentations from invited speakers on advances in emergency care systems, research, trauma, paediatrics, toxicology, and aged care through a blend of virtual and live events. The conference theme is Better Care for a Better World which encapsulates why these professionals work in emergency medicine and why they provide emergency care.

Location: Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC)

Pre-conference: Tuesday 14 – Wednesday 15 June 0800 – 1700
Core Conference: Thursday 16 June – Sunday 19 June 0730 – 1730

Volunteers play a crucial role in ensuring the success of ICEM 2022 by providing support behind the scenes in a range of responsibilities.

Being a volunteer is an excellent opportunity to meet, interact and network with leading professionals, researchers, and practitioners in the emergency medical field. This can often lead to opening new avenues for the development of a professional career path and give you the chance to discover more about international opportunities.  

As a student, you will have the chance to grow your network and meet likeminded individuals who share the same goal in developing a better world. 

You will have the opportunity to help coordinate program activities, greet visiting delegates, assist with registration, act as guides during the conference, staff various sessions and activities, and perform other crucial tasks under the guidance and support of the conference organisers.

Taking part as a volunteer for ICEM 2022 will give you free access to the exhibition and conference sessions when not on duty, daily catering during working hours and a Certificate of Appreciation at the close of the conference which can enhance your resume for future jobs.

How to Sign-Up

To volunteer, please complete a volunteer application form and outline what days you are available to take part in the conference, with your preferred volunteer role to by the 30 April 2022. Please note it will not be possible to align all volunteer role preferences, but these will be taken into consideration.

Volunteer Needs and Expectations

We are seeking volunteers to undertake the specific roles outlined below. You will be expected to attend daily volunteer briefings at the beginning of your shift before heading out to your rostered area. Volunteers at any conference are an important aspect of the smooth running of the event, so we request you to consider your commitment prior to volunteering.

Session room monitors

Before the session starts, you will need to assist the session chair with water bottles, notes, seating, and presentation needs.  Report the number of attendee’s and monitor the session for smoother operation.

Workshop participant

Some workshops will require volunteers during the day to support in the activities.

Poster sessions

Monitoring the poster tours and electronic poster stations during the event and ensuring the correct posters are visible at the appropriate times.

Self-check-in and registration queue assisting

You will assist pre-registered delegates check-in using the self-print terminals and assist attendees access the virtual platform. You will support in queue management.

Covid-19 monitor

You will assist in ensuring all attendees are checked in and have the correct vaccination status in line with the Government requirements at the time of the conference.

Virtual platform speaker support

You may be required to support the conference organisers with the management of the virtual platform and liaising with virtual speakers prior to their sessions commencing.
