Birrarung Wilam Walk

Come and join us on our Birrarung Wilam (River Camp) Walk for all members of the public. Starting at 1.30pm, the Birrarung Wilam Walk takes you through Federation Square and down to the Birrarung Wilam (Common Ground) Aboriginal art installations, experiencing the Aboriginal history of the Birrarung Marr (Beside the river of mists) and Aboriginal Peoples of the Kulin Nation.

With one of our experienced Koorie guides, you will learn how the land on which Melbourne is located has changed over time and about the significance of the Birrarung Wilam to the local Kulin peoples. You will gain a deeper and more meaningful understanding of this incredible location; an important gathering place for the Kulin Nation and one of Melbourne’s most popular meeting hubs.

ICEM 2022 have arranged for coaches to be available departing from MCEC, Clarendon Street entrance. These will be a shuttle service departing approximately every 15-20 minutes from 1800.

There will also be a limited number of coaches returning back to MCEC at shuttle service times from 2100.

Join Georgina Phillips from the ICEM 2022 committee on a Melbourne local walking tour to MCG. The walk will begin at 1730 from MCEC.

This would be a moderate walk and comfortable shoes are encouraged.

Walk 500m from MCEC to Flinders Street West – Stop D6 to 7C MCG – John Cain Arena/ Melbourne Park and walk 200m to Melbourne Cricket Ground.
